Solarflugzeug Impulse - Überquerung Nordamerikas Ereignis

On 3 May 2013, the Solar Impulse began its first cross-US flight with a journey from Moffett Field in Mountain View, California, to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in Arizona. Successive legs of the flight took the Solar Impulse to Dallas-Fort Worth airport, Lambert–St. Louis International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport; it finally concluded at New York's John F. Kennedy airport on 6 July. Each flight leg took between 19 and 25 hours, with multi-day stops in each city between flights.

Am 3. Mai 2013 startete das Solarflugzeug Solar Impulse seinen Across-America Flug bei San Francisco. In 5 Etappen flog das mit Solarenergie betriebenen Flugzeug von der West- zur Ostküste. Am 6. Juli 2013, um 23:09 EDT landete die Solar Impulse auf dem John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. Insgesamt war die Solar Impulse 105 Stunden und 41 Minuten in der Luft, also knapp viereinhalb Tage oder 17,5 Stunden. Dabei legte sie etwa 3000 Meilen, also mehr als 5600 Kilometer, zurück. Im Schnitt war sie 28,8 Knoten schnell, etwa 53 Kilometer in der Stunde.
