Global citizen consultation on climate action Event

Am 6. Juni 2015 luden das Umweltbundesamt und das Bundesumweltministerium zufällig ausgewählte Bürgerinnen und Bürger zum Klimadialog in das Berliner Tagungswerk Jerusalemkirche ein. Vorbereitet und organisiert wurde die Veranstaltung vom nexus Institut, das die nationale Koordination für Deutschland übernommen hat. Doch nicht nur in Deutschland fand an diesem Tag ein Bürgerdialog statt: In 80 Ländern, auf fünf Kontinenten trafen sich Menschen, um ihre Stimme in den internationalen Diskussions- und Verhandlungsprozess einzubringen. In allen teilnehmenden Ländern liefen die eintägigen Bürgerdialoge "World Wide Views zu Klima und Energie" nach dem gleichen Schema ab, so dass nun vergleichbare Ergebnisse vorliegen. Die Abstimmungsfragen orientierten sich dabei sehr eng an den noch offenen und strittigen Fragen der internationalen Klimaverhandlungen.

On 6 June 2015, the Federal Environment Agency and the Federal Environment Ministry invited a group of citizens selected at random to participate in the climate dialogue at the Jerusalem Church (Jerusalemkirche) in Berlin. The event was prepared and organised by the nexus Institute, which is in charge of coordinating consultations in Germany on a national level. Germany was not the only country to hold a public dialogue on this particular day: people came together in eighty countries across five continents to make their voices heard in the international discussion and negotiation process. The setup of the public dialogues entitled "World Wide Views on Climate and Energy" was the same in all participating countries, thus ensuring comparable results. The questions voted on were based on open and contentious issues in the international climate negotiations.
