European Commission calls for immediate suspension of logging in Poland's Białowieża Forest Event

Am 13. Juli 2017 beschloss die Europäische Kommission, Polen wegen des verstärkten Holzeinschlags im Białowieża-Wald, einem geschützten Natura-2000-Gebiet, vor dem Gerichtshof der Europäischen Union zu verklagen. Da der Holzeinschlag in großem Umfang begonnen hat, beantragte die Kommission beim Gerichtshof zudem einstweilige Anordnungen, um Polen zur Einstellung dieser Tätigkeiten zu veranlassen.

On 13 July 2017 the European Commission decided to refer Poland to the Court of Justice of the EU for increased logging in the Białowieża Forest, which is a protected Natura 2000 site. As logging operations have started on a significant scale, the Commission is also requesting the Court for interim measures compelling Poland to suspend the works immediately.
